Liverpool and Arsenal are prepared to lock horns in the transfer window. Both of them would like to sign this 22-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal have started the season well and they can both attribute their great start to one thing: Midfield signings. Liverpool signed the exceptional midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai while Arsenal smashed their transfer record to sign Declan Rice, both midfielders revolutionising the way their respective sides play.

However, both Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta won’t stop there. Getting a taste of a great midfield this season, they would both like to bring in a reinforcement in January. This means that they have aligned in their shortlists, commencing a transfer battle when the transfer window opens.

Liverpool and Arsenal battle for Andre Trindade in January

According to journalist Thiago Ferreira (via 90min), Arsenal have entered the race to sign Liverpool target Andre Trindade. The Brazilian midfielder is a first-team staple for Fluminese this year, however, he is subject to a move away to raise some funds for the Brazilian side.

Andre is an exceptional defensive midfielder who is disciplined well to remain in position. Ageing at 22 years old, his best years are ahead of him, which would be promising for a Premier League club.

From Arsenal’s perspective, they would like to sign a new defensive midfielder to replace Thomas Partey, while also freeing Declan Rice to play further forward which is how Mikel Arteta wishes to use him.

For Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp still isn’t settled with his midfield options. While he may have invested heavily in the summer, it’s been proven so far this season that just one injury or suspension in the midfield could have a detrimental impact.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s winger target could benefit Man City if signed.
