Arsenal interested in Premier League striker who recently scored a hat-trick
By Kian Long
Arsenal’s primary concern in the January transfer window will be to sign a new striker. That said, Mikel Arteta has targeted this insane Premier League striker.
As expected, the international break is dull. However, this hasn’t stopped Arsenal from working hard behind the scenes to ensure they return in the same rich vein of form. After beating Manchester City heading into the break, Arteta is slowly establishing himself as a title favourite.
But in order to push for the title, Arsenal must learn from their mistakes last season. The main problem was that there wasn’t enough squad depth. Having spoke about the importance of having two great players in every position, Arteta will be aware of the biggest flaw in his squad – centre forward.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an Eddie Nketiah hater. But with Gabriel Jesus constantly injured, is Nketiah the type of player you want leading the line for a title contending side? The short answer is no.
Arsenal are interested in signing Aston Villa centre forward Ollie Watkins
According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are interested in signing Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in January. The English striker who recently bagged a goal on international duty and, of course, scored that insane hat-trick against Brighton in the Premier League, is subject to interest from a number of clubs.
Certainly, the move would make sense for all parties. While Watkins is in the form of his life, Unai Emery may wish to cash in. From Arsenal’s perspective, they would undoubtedly be signing a proven goal scorer who could outscore their two current options. Finally, from the player’s perspective, a move to North London may elevate his chances of getting into the England squad.
Meanwhile, Arteta competes with Man City for this MLS midfielder.
