Erik ten Hag has been handed a final ultimatum from his struggling Manchester United defender. This one was definitely coming…
Manchester United aim to improve on their season after the international break. Currently, the Red Devils sit tenth in the Premier League which is far below their objectives. Admittedly, they could even be in a worse position had they not achieved some scrappy points at the start of this season. Furthermore, they are yet to pick up a single point in the Champions League.
With that being said, there have been plenty of off-field issues for Erik ten Hag to contend with. This has not only affected his starting lineup selections, but also the harmony of the squad as a collective.
This harmony may be jeopardised even more, as Erik ten Hag has been handed a warning from one of his senior players.
Harry Maguire threatens Erik ten Hag to leave Manchester United
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Harry Maguire has threatened to leave Manchester United if he continues to struggle for game time under Erik ten Hag. The English defender has only made three Premier League appearances so far this season.
I don’t mean this as disrespect to Maguire, but that’s hardly a threat. If anything, he’d actually be doing the club a favour if he left. Not only is he eating away valuable wage resources, but he affects the team negatively whenever he plays.
I say this as a neutral fan, so perhaps Manchester United fans will disagree with me. But believe me, whenever I see Harry Maguire in the starting lineup against my team, I get excited for a goal fest. This is the last thing you want from your defender, United fans.
