Arsenal “hold talks” with London rivals over their clinical English striker
By Kian Long
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly interested in signing a new striker in January. Rumour has it, he’s held talks with West London rivals Brentford.
Arsenal head into the international break high on life. After they beat their title contenders Manchester City for the first time in what feels like centuries, Mikel Arteta has given his players plenty of reason to smile during their rest. Of course, some players will be in action for their respective countries.
For the home country, there is one player linked with Arsenal who will be missing. I am, of course, talking about Ivan Toney. The English striker is yet to make his second cap for England, after making his first in 2023 before his betting ban.
Ivan Toney is linked with a new club when he returns to football. Playing for Brentford, everybody knows he is capable of playing at a higher level. I mean that as no disrespect to the Bees, who have established themselves as a mainstay and tough team to beat in the Premier League.
Arsenal prepared to make a “huge push” to sign Ivan Toney
According to a report from TEAMTALK, Mikel Arteta is pushing through with his interest in Ivan Toney, even opening talks with Brentford about a potential move for the player. The report claims that the Gunners are prepared to make a “huge push” to sign Toney when the transfer window reopens, since he could be the missing piece to win the title this season.
There’s no denying that Ivan Toney is a proven goal scorer. Before his ban, he was up there in the goal scoring charts alongside Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, two goal scorers who Arsenal know a little too well. There will be question marks about his rust when returning to competitive football, but he’ll be more hungry than anyone to eliminate those question marks on a big stage.
In other news, the Gunners may have found their striker in the Serie A.
Do you think Arsenal will sign Ivan Toney?
