Chelsea set to make a HUGE financial loss on one of their flop signings

Chelsea have revealed their asking price for one of their flop signings. Having originally signed him for £97.5m, the Blues are willing to accept around £37m.

When it comes to transfer window, Chelsea aren’t known to be the most frugal. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. In the Todd Boehly era, the Blues will just throw a tonne of money at players they haven’t researched even nearly enough. Take the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk for example.

But even a player who they have heavily researched, such as Romelu Lukaku, it isn’t always guaranteed that the signing will work out. The Belgian striker who is in a high pedigree re-signed for Chelsea in 2021, before being sent out on loan for the subsequent season.

This season, Lukaku is out on loan again. In what is one of the most confusing and saturated career paths, the wanderer has been with three different clubs since he signed at Stamford Bridge – Chelsea, Inter Milan and Roma.

According to a claim from the trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have set a fixed price for Romelu Lukaku, when he will be sold. The Blues have requested £37m for his services. Considering he was originally signed for £97.5m, this is a significant financial loss for the club.

Of course, they are one of the wealthiest clubs in world football, so this will be like a drop in the ocean for them. However, they cannot make a habit of signing players for over the odds and selling them for less than half of their original price.
