Cesc Fabregas singles out one Arsenal midfielder with Rodri-level qualities

Arsenal finally broke their hoodoo against Manchester City at the weekend. Club legend Cesc Fabregas was watching and was impressed by one midfielder.

When the fixture list is announced before the start of the season, there are always a few fixtures which stick out. For example, Manchester United vs Liverpool and Spurs vs Arsenal. However, over the last few seasons, there is one rivalry which has emerged and that’s because of the title challenge.

At the weekend, Arsenal finally broke their hoodoo against Manchester City in the Premier League. After not beating them since Arsene Wenger was in charge, a late goal by Gabriel Martinelli broke the curse.

Cesc Fabregas heaps high praise on Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice

Watching the game was Cesc Fabregas. Although, despite the late goal from Gabriel Martinelli, this isn’t what caught his attention. Instead, as the legendary midfielder he was in his day, his eyes were more fixated on the centre of the park. That centre was dominated by Declan Rice.

Quoted by HITC, Cesc Fabregas had high praise for Declan Rice. Even comparing his qualities to the world-class midfielder that is Rodri, Cesc had the following to say:

"“He has grown with the ball. I think he is capable of giving final balls now. Even to go to the edge of the area like Rodri. We have seen him a couple of times, edge of the box, Champions League finals and scored the goals. Rice has that talent as well.” – Cesc Fabregas on Declan Rice (via HITC)"

Certainly, Cesc knows what it takes to be a world-beater in the midfield. To receive high praise from a club legend will mean a lot to Declan Rice. Of course, it’s the aim of the summer signing to have his name written in Emirates Stadium folklore.
