Arsenal have secured the long-term future for one of their best players. Fans are over the moon with the new deal for the “next Bukayo Saka”.

Hale End, home of Arsenal’s academy, has produced some exceptional generational talents in recent seasons. Most notable are Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson. When you’re planning to make it in the North London academy, there’s no doubt that these are the players you look up to and aspire to be.

Currently, there are some players who are tipped to follow in the footsteps of the current Arsenal youngsters. Those include the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Charles Sagoe Jr.

One of those players has had a very good day and that is Myles Lewis-Skelly. The young defensive minded midfielder has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal, a true statement of intent from the club that they see him in their future.

Being a true staple in the U21s, the 17-year-old has proven his commitment to the game multiple times. Even if his side don’t merge victorious, his hard work in the core of midfield never goes overlooked. A player that is versatile and can truly do it all in midfield, the future looks bright for him.

Given Arsenal’s involvement in the FA Cup which is soon to commence, there could be some opportunities to make his competitive debut for the club. After all, it happened with Sagoe Jr in the Carabao Cup.

Given that the defensive midfield slot is likely to be taken by Declan Rice in the future, it may be best for Lewis-Skelly to adapt his development plan into a central midfielder. After all, it’s a position he’s filled before in the academy.
