As Arsenal face Manchester City at the weekend, it’s a race of time in regards to the Bukayo Saka injury scare. However, is there fresh hope?
Gareth Southgate just named his England squad for the upcoming October international break. It’s an announcement which was heavily anticipates by the Arsenal fans, as they had an opportunity to read between the lines with regards to the Bukayo Saka injury.
If he was named in the squad, this likely means that his injury wasn’t serious enough to rule him out of contention for next week. Hopefully, then, he could recover early enough in time for the weekend.
Arsenal handed a Bukayo Saka injury boost by Gareth Southgate
Indeed, Bukayo Saka has been named in the England squad, alongside three of his Arsenal teammates (Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Eddie Nketiah). The extent to which Saka will play in these matches remains to be seen, but it’s a huge boost for Arsenal fans as it rules out a mid-term injury at least.
Bukayo Saka last featured for Arsenal in their midweek fixture against Lens. He got the assist for Arsenal’s only goal of the match before making way for Fabio Vieira early into the match. Mikel Arteta revealed that it was a muscular issue which caused Bukayo Saka off the pitch and confirmed it was a “worry” coming from Saka, who very rarely has to come off.
Of course, Saka hasn’t been ruled out of the match on Sunday, but it’s a nagging thought at the back of fans’ minds that he may have to miss out. Indeed, journalist Charles Watts has claimed that the Gunners need to be “cautious” with their treatment of Saka, perhaps even suggesting that he should be rested.
Do you think the Bukayo Saka injury is anything to worry about for Arsenal?
