Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino may be forced to reconsider his transfer approach as he’s been dealt a significant blow for his main target.

Chelsea have progressed through to the round of 16 in the Carabao Cup. Unfortunately, this looks like their best chance of silverware since they’ve fallen significantly behind in the Premier League standings and are not in any European competition this season.

But Mauricio Pochettino plans for their fate to change. The Argentine has seemed very confident in recent press conferences when asked about the future of Chelsea football club. Of course, he arrived with a vision and is no stranger to overcoming adversity in his career.

The board are clearly fans of Pochettino. Although this is their approach regardless, they have invested heavily into Poch’s transfer plans. SInce he’s arrived, they have made some big money signings in the likes of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Nicolas Jackson.

But this won’t stop there. Indeed, Chelsea are already in the market for a new striker, after Jackson has let them down at the start of this season.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, though, that striker may not be Victor Osimhen. The report states that Saudi Arabian clubs will lead the race for the Nigerian striker, who is linked with a move away from Napoli after the club released a video on social media outwardly mocking the star striker.

For Chelsea, there are thankfully other options. Those options include Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins, both strikers they are targeting according to yesterday’s transfer news.
