Kai Havertz has been a frustrating character at Arsenal. But Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive spin on what he knows about the player.
Last night, Arsenal pushed through to the round of 16 in the Carabao Cup. It was a hard fought 1-0 win away from home at Brentford. Mikel Arteta played a weaker team, I think it’s fair to say, as the Spanish boss focused on squad rotation ahead of the Premier League game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Despite the win in midweek, a lot of the attention from an Arsenal perspective wasn’t on the players who played well, but instead one player who underwhelmed. That player is Kai Havertz who had a few chances to get on the scoresheet but failed. In general, he lost the ball a few times and of course, he is under more scrutiny than most so this didn’t go down well.
Fabrizio Romano backs Kai Havertz at Arsenal
However, Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive spin on the situation. He claims that the Arsenal team are 100% behind Kai Havertz and they will continue to experiment with him in this new position and role. Romano claims that due to the big money spent on Havertz, Arteta is clearly a supporter of his and backs the stance to fight with him.
Sadly, balanced discussion on Kai Havertz is hard to come by

Last night he was good, yes there were times where I’d have liked to see him attack in a more direct and confident manner
But overall he played his role well, nailed defensive duties as well as Granit ever did and was… pic.twitter.com/UDi8E1SyNJ
Certainly, if you take a step back and view Kai Havertz’ role at Arsenal objectively, it is clear that he’s putting in a lot of effort. The stats are in his favour and of course, we shouldn’t judge him for his lack of goals since he isn’t a striker anymore.
