Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi is a wanted man. Reports suggest he is on the shortlist of a top European superclub.

Brighton and Hove Albion are known for being a selling club. In the summer alone, they lost some of their best players in Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister and Robert Sanchez. But remarkably, the Seagulls look like a better team without them. The harsh reality of being a seller club is that you have to make do with a new team essentially every season.

Playing in European football this season, it’s Roberto De Zerbi who is to thank for the immense upsurge at Brighton football club. The Italian boss is one of the best in the business and is a master tactician. So much so, that he’s tipped to be the only candidate capable of replacing Pep Guardiola when he eventually leaves Manchester City.

But he could have another option. According to a report from Cadena SER, Roberto De Zerbi is of interest to Real Madrid. Los Blancos plan to bring in a new manager for next season, with De Zerbi thought to be one of the main candidates.

Certainly from the manager’s perspective, this may be an opportunity which is simply impossible to refuse. As much as Brighton fans won’t want to hear this, nobody loves the club enough to turn down Real Madrid’s calls.

From Brighton’s perspective, they won’t want to lose Roberto De Zerbi. They struck gold when they unveiled him as the new manager. Although they have overcome adversity and came out of it stronger before, losing De Zerbi could be the end of their uprise. For this project, he MUST be the leader.
