Mauricio Pochettino’s role at Chelsea could be under threat as his potential replacement was spotted at Stamford Bridge recently.

When it was announced that Mauricio Pochettino would take charge at Stamford Bridge, everybody thought that Chelsea were a side to be feared again. Although he hasn’t had any success in England in terms of silverware, he essentially turned Spurs and Southampton into well respected clubs who were capable of competing at the top level.

While nobody denies that Pochettino has it in him to turn the club around in the long-run, fans are growing tired of the run of bad results which has continued even with the Argentine in charge. Indeed, as a club who had the objective of qualifying for European football this season, their poor start to the season has hindered their chances highly.

Say what you want about the tactic, we all know that Chelsea have a reputation of firing their managers if things aren’t going their way. Ultimately, Pochettino is at risk of suffering from the same fate.

According to a report from Birmingham World, one of the contenders to replace Pochettino at Stamford Bridge has been spotted at Stamford Bridge. Indeed, Julen Lopetegui was spotted watching Chelsea’s defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend.

While it may have just been a coincidence and Lopetegui was genuinely just interested in the match, this isn’t likely. After all, who would want to watch a mediocre Chelsea side against Aston Villa if they had no business opportunity?

Time will tell if Boehly sticks with Pochettino as his manager. One thing’s for sure though – If Poch wants to keep his job, he needs to get a run of wins on the board.
