Arsenal are in need of some new signings in the January transfer window. Early on this season, they have already been affected by injury scares. Although Mikel Arteta has done a remarkable job to start the season unbeaten considering his opposition and the injury woes, he will feel the pressure to reinforce for January, particularly as the fixture schedule heats up.

One flaw in Arsenal’s tactical setup is that they don’t have a clinical striker. Eddie Nketiah is not clinical enough to play for a title contending team and Gabriel Jesus is at his best when he plays out wide. This calls for Arteta to think about signing a striker in the new year. And this is exactly what the Spanish boss is doing.

Arsenal step up their interest in Ivan Toney as Mikel Arteta adores him

According to a report from the Mirror, Arsenal are prepared to “step up” their interest in Ivan Toney of Brentford. The 27-year-old striker is linked with a move away after his ban from football is served. It’s thought that Arsenal are one of the most interested clubs alongside Spurs and Chelsea.

From Brentford’s perspective, they are prepared to sell Toney. They have accepted the reality that he would like a move away, as he has spoken about it quite relentlessly. Being a great asset to Brentford for some time now, it’s time they cashed in on him. The report claims that the Bees would want around £60m before they consider selling Toney.

Do you think Arsenal should sign Ivan Toney in January?
