Arsenal have started the season off incredibly well. While dropping four points might seem like the end of the world, they are only bettered in the table by Manchester City and Liverpool. With some big matches coming up, the table could change in Mikel Arteta’s favour should he play his cards right.

A key theme for this season is that the Spanish boss has been ruthless in his decision making. The likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel have been affected by squad rotation this season, as Arteta prefers to select the players based on opposition, rather than his closeness with the players or on merit. Long story short, no player is safe in the Arsenal lineup.

As a further demonstration, the Arsenal players have been warned by Liverpool legend and England U18 coach Emile Heskey that their positions are under threat by two “fantastic” youngsters.

According to the Express, Emile Heskey has pinpointed the young duo of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly as the next two Arsenal players to rise through their ranks. He predicts they will get a chance to prove themselves to Mikel Arteta and they will certainly impress given his experience of working with the dynamic duo.

Over the last few seasons, the likes of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe have all broken into the first team from being youngsters at the club. So, definitely, there is scope for Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly to strive for the same fate.

Do you think any Arsenal players’ positions are under threat by their academy graduates?
