West Ham United face Liverpool away from home in the Premier League this weekend. After getting off to a win in their Europa League campaign, West Ham boss David Moyes would like to return to winning ways in the Premier after they were unlucky to let their lead slip against the champions Manchester City last weekend. It doesn’t get any easier against Liverpool, that’s for sure.

But one player who’s confident ahead of the match is West Ham United striker Michail Antonio. Speaking ahead of the fixture, Antonio is confident his side can snatch a win at Anfield and better yet, he’s even predicted West Ham to finish above Liverpool this season.

Certainly a man brimming with confidence, he’s a real fan favourite. Indeed, he’s a favourite of the club too. According to Football Insider, talks have opened with Michail Antonio over a new deal. His current deal runs out in 2024, with the club having the option to extend the contract by another year.

However, it isn’t that simple. Just like everything in football, there’s a twist. As noted in the same report, there are some Premier League clubs lining up to swoop in should the talks collapse between Michail Antonio and his club. Interest clubs include Wolves, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

I don’t think I’m going out on a limb by saying these three options would be a downgrade for Antonio. However, as he’s ageing now, this is a likelihood he’ll have to consider.

Do you think David Moyes will secure a contract extension for Michail Antonio?
