Man Utd player ratings vs Bayern

Manchester United’s starting XI

Andre Onana (2.5/10)

Poor game for Onana. It’s not that he was poor at building from the back. It is his forte. However, his howler kind of caused United to lose the game. Before that, Man Utd were in control of that game. His mistake gave Bayern the opportunity to take this game beyond United. Towards the end, he did make some important saves.

Diogo Dalot (3/10)

Dalot was disappointing in this game. Manchester United had nothing from the right-hand side. Pellistri was running like a headless chicken without any support from Dalot. The Portuguese provide more going forward than Wan-Bissaka. However, United missed Wan-Bissaka in this game badly.

Victor Lindelof (4/10)

Victor Lindelof was not great. But, he was not the worst on the pitch, either. He was calm when Bayern were attacking. However, the chemistry between him and Martinez is yet to be established. Thus, he won’t be getting anything more than 4 out of 10.

Lisandro Martinez (4/10)

Lisandro Martinez was one of the best signings of Manchester United for a few years. He showed an attitude that was lacking at Man Utd. However, he seems injured, and United doesn’t have a replacement. Maguire was also injured. So, you have to say, he did well even with his injury.

*Sergio Reguilon (6/10)

There is no doubt that the best player on the pitch for Manchester United was Sergio Reguilon. The left-back is on loan from Spurs and showed character even when United were two goals down. His partnership with Rashford and link-up play even made Rashford look good. He is by far the Man of the Match.

Casemiro (5/10)

Casemiro is having a horrible season, and you wonder whether his age has finally caught up with him. Bayern were dominating in the midfield, and Casemiro cannot hold on his own. However, he did score two goals towards the end of the game. Therefore, although he would have got a 3 out of 10, because of those two goals, he would get 5 out of 10.

Christian Eriksen (5/10)

Eriksen brought a little calmness in the midfield. He was one player who wasn’t misplacing his passes. Once Eriksen was taken off, Manchester United struggled going forward and scoring a goal from that moment seemed a far cry.

Bruno Fernandes (4/10)

Bruno did a good job defensively. However, he was nothing going forward. It is hard to remember a meaningful forward pass from the Manchester United captain other than that free-kick that Casemiro converted. Also, he was wasteful with his corners. Overall, it was a very poor performance from Bruno.

Marcus Rashford (4/10)

Rashford was poor. The only thing that made his performance look better was his link-up play with Reguilon. He holds the ball on his feet way too long, and his reluctance to pass or create chances for his number 9 is causing an issue for United going forward. And, this was evident in this game too.

Facundo Pellistri (5/10)

Pellistri did put a shift in. He made his Champions League debut in this game. He was going forward and also coming down to help Dalot in defensive duty. He had a good game and looks promising. Probably, he is one of the very few positives that United can take from this game.

Rasmus Hojlund (6/10)

Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal for Manchester United, and that too in his Champions League debut. The number 9 position for Manchester United is a graveyard shift. Therefore, he did well to get a goal. Hojlund looks promising only if United provides proper service to their target man.
