Arsenal have their eyes on the Champions League fixture tonight. They will face PSV at home for the second season in the row, but this time the prize is more coveted. The Gunners haven’t played in this competition in seven years.

Since they last featured in the competition, the squad has changed quite dramatically. With largely Mikel Arteta to thank, some excellent new signings have revamped the squad tenfold. Now, the Gunners look like legitimate Champions League contenders (albeit, that is very unlikely).

It’s a testament to Mikel Arteta that he’s the type of manager who is never satisfied. Proud, yes, but satisfied, no. With that in mind, he’s been hard at week over the last few weeks deciphering his best strategy to approach the January transfer window. It seems clear that his shortlist will centre around one position – signing a new striker.

Just yesterday, we reported that Arsenal were “almost certainly” still interested in signing Ivan Toney. Mikel Arteta is known to be a fan of the English forward and would have almost certainly signed him had he been available to sign in the summer. Therefore, a January saga is expected to unfold.

Arsenal receive a HUGE boost in Ivan Toney chase

According to a new report from Sky Sports, Brentford coach Thomas Frank has revealed that he’d be willing to sell Ivan Toney for the right price. The Mirror claim this price is set be around £60m, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all in contention.

If we’re being real, he is destined to fail if he signs for Chelsea. Therefore, the only two options he should have in consideration are Arsenal and Spurs. Both are undergoing projects with two great managers but he is more likely to win silverware at the Emirates Stadium. Time will tell who Toney chooses.

Do you think Arsenal will sign Ivan Toney?
