Newcastle consider a HUGE £52m bid for West Ham “midfield maestro”
By Kian Long
Newcastle United kick off their campaign in the Champions League tonight. It’s not easy for them in the group of death, but if they can get a result away from home against AC Milan, then this would set Eddie Howe up for success for the rest of the campaign.
In truth, the Magpies did okay in the transfer window. Their business was nothing extraordinary, but they got the job done to prepare themselves for this season. Although they haven’t started the best, they snatched a result against Brentford which should hopefully set them in their winning ways.
Already, Howe has an eye on the January transfer window. Given their poor start to the season, they have to be in a better place (and still in the Champions League running) come the new year, so they can attract some top players.
Newcastle United eye West Ham “midfield maestro” Lucas Paqueta
According to a report from Daily Mail, Newcastle would like to attempt the signing of Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United. After the Brazil international failed to secure his move to Manchester City in the summer, it remains to be seen whether Pep is still interested in signing him after signing Nunes (who’s expected to make his full debut tonight).
Certainly, Newcastle are in need of bolstering their midfield options. The lack of depth in this position is shown currently – With two of their best options ruled out through injury, Howe is struggling to maintain quality in the midfield.
Do you think Newcastle United will sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United?
