Liverpool are in absolutely exceptional form. Those who know, know. Even since the second half of last season, Jurgen Klopp has played consistently well and looks like a real title contender this season. Playing in the Europa League, this will allow Klopp to rest more players as he seeks the Premier League title.

Given the midfield departures, there has been some tactical changes and new faces. One player’s versatility who has greatly benefitted Klopp during this new era is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The full-back who is Liverpool through and through, has been a real asset this season, as his ability to shape-shift has allowed Klopp to trial new systems.

Liverpool close to deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold despite Barcelona interest

It’s thought that Liverpool would like to reward Trent for his exceptional performances this season with a new contract. According to 90min, the Reds are close to agreeing a contract extension with the player, which would see him stay at Anfield Stadium despite interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Given that Klopp has lost some of his best players in recent seasons, it will mean a lot to him if he can keep Trent. As expressed, he’s a key figurehead in this system as his immense range of passing aids the creativity and attacking flow produced by Liverpool.

Ageing at just 24 years old, his best years are soon to come. It’s scary to think that he’s already exceptional but only has room to improve.
