“Almost certainly” Journalist makes bold claim about Arsenal & Ivan Toney

Coming off the back of a narrow win against Everton in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta will now turn his attention to the Champions League. In the elite European competition, Arsenal return for the first time 2016/17. To put this into perspective, the last season in which the Gunners qualified for the Champions League (2015/16) was Mikel Arteta’s final season as a player.
Not to jump the gun completely, but Arsenal have one eye fixated on the January transfer window, Of course, this will be an opportunity to submit a fresh squad to UEFA. Currently, Jurrien Timber isn’t in the squad, but in January, he will be should the Gunners make it out of the group and the player returns from injury as expected.
Not only will injured players be re-submitted in the squad, but new signings will become eligible too. For the Gunners, the aim seems to be signing a new striker. Only last week, Arteta was linked with an insane double swoop for Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. Of the two, it’s Toney who remains the most likely signing.

According to a revelation from John Cross of the Mirror, Arsenal would have “almost certainly” tried to sign Ivan Toney in the summer, had he been available then and not facing the ban he currently faces. Therefore, then, it’s likely he’s still on Arteta’s radar. However, they will face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, who also admire Toney.
