Roberto De Zerbi has taken Brighton and Hove Albion to new levels in the Premier League. The Seagulls finished 6th last season, their highest-ever placement in the top flight, which has seen the club qualify for European football for the first time ever. Despite losing plenty of talent over the summer, including the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, Brighton is still pushing themselves to an even higher level.

When Graham Potter departed for Chelsea at the beginning of last season, it looked as though Brighton’s run of fantastic form may come to an end. Maybe surprising to some, but De Zerbi was able to make Brighton into an even better side. While Brighton may not have the star power at every position, they make up for it in their willingness to buy into the system of Roberto De Zerbi. The south-coast club has become one of the best coaches in all of Europe.

Brighton’s success and time in the spotlight over the last couple of seasons has seen them picked apart in all facets of the club. The club has lost football executives, coaching staff and players. Funny enough, many of those players have departed to Chelsea, who do not have European football this season and risk missing qualification yet again.

Just over a year after his appointment, Roberto De Zerbi’s future at Brighton is now being talked about as rumours of an exit clause surface. Fabrizio Romano revealed recently on his YouTube channel that there is indeed a clause in De Zerbi’s contract, but there should be no reason to panic for Brighton. Romano states that Roberto De Zerbi’s release clause contains a specific detail that it cannot be activated mid-season. This was not the cause of Graham Potter’s release clause, as it was activated after the season had begun, by Chelsea.

This will be great news for the Seagulls as they will not have any worries about losing their star manager amid the club’s biggest-ever season.
