As Newcastle United prepare for their opening Champions League fixture against the historic side AC Milan away from home, Eddie Howe has some tough decisions to make. With that in mind, here’s our Newcastle predicted lineup vs AC Milan.

Newcastle predicted lineup vs AC Milan

Starting off in goal, which is the easiest decision for Eddie Howe, will be Nick Pope. The England international put in a good performance against Brentford at the weekend and picking up his first clean sheet of the season will fill him with confidence.

Then, at right-back, it will be the player with Champions League experience to guide his troops – Kieran Trippier. There’s certainly potential for rotation in the centre back positions, but I can’t see any other partnership except Sven Botman and Fabian Schar working. At left-back, it would be unforgivable for Howe to play Burn there in this game, therefore, Lewis Hall should get the nod.

In the midfield, there will be rotation. The two midfielders to keep their place will be Bruno Guimaraes (of course) and Elliot Anderson, who surprised me against Brentford with how well he played. Coming into the team is a man who knows AC Milan well, Sandro Tonali. He has to start.

Further, there are expected to be two changes in attack. From the Brentford game, I can see the goal scorer Wilson dropped for Alexander Isak (who seems to be the striker for the big occasion and he was rested against Brentford so it’s a no brainer).

Then, it will be Harvey Barnes, who put in a good stint against Brentford but was benched off – Likely, Howe had this big fixture in mind. On the right-hand side it will be Miguel Almiron who returns to the starting eleven in place of Gordon.
