Arsenal are deservedly given all the praise in the world for their signings over the last few years. Understandably so, when you consider that Gabriel Jesus, Declan Rice and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who are massively important players to Arsenal when fit, have all signed within the last two seasons.

But one factor to Arsenal’s negotiations which often goes overlooked, is their improved ability to keep ahold of their best players. When you consider players in the past who ended up running down their contracts – Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey to name some obvious examples – It’s great to see they have improved in this department.

Arsenal close to agreeing HUGE £200,000 Martin Odegaard contract extension

Already, new deals for Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli have been sorted. Now, Mikel Arteta would like to add to that list. According to a report from Football Insider, Arsenal are “close to agreeing” a new deal for Martin Odegaard, which would see him earn in excess of £200,000 per week.

Big money for a big player. In a recent presser, Mikel Arteta described his captain as a “massive player” and said that the club would like to keep ahold of him for a long time. Understandably so, given not only his insane technical ability, but also his leadership qualities as captain.

As Arsenal kick off against Everton in an hour, it’s not a surprise at all to see the captain as the first name on the team sheet.

Do you think Martin Odegaard is worth £200,000 per week?
