Yesterday, it looked like results were going in Arsenal’s favour. Firstly, Liverpool were down to Wolves. Secondly, Spurs were down to Sheffield United. Thirdly, Man City were down to West Ham. These are all results which would MASSIVELY benefit Arsenal in the early title race, but in the end, all three of their title rivals made miraculous comebacks to win their respective matches late on.

From a neutral perspective, it was a cracking day of Premier League football. There was quality produced in every match and, most importantly, there was late drama. What wasn’t to love?

Arsenal legend Paul Merson praises Spurs for their late come back

Well, even the renowned Arsenal legend and pundit Paul Merson had his say on the Spurs match. Posting to X after their incredible late show, where Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski scored late on to win the match, Merse said “Hurts me to say but fair play spurs great come back”.

Indeed it was a great comeback. When it looked down and out, it was late heroics from the marmite player Richarlison and Kulusevski who granted Spurs another one and continued the unbeaten start for new manager Ange Postecoglou.

In the replies to Merson’s post, there were obviously Arsenal fans who were up in arms about the fact one of their former players praised Spurs. It’s not nice to see but when club legends take on media responsibilities, they are paid to be impartial and put every club on a level playing field, regardless of former ties or support.

What did you make of Spurs’ late comeback yesterday?
