We reported the other day that Arsenal were interested in reentering the race to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP. It’s known that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the defender given his long-term interest but he wasn’t available to sign in the summer transfer window, therefore the Gunners are expected to go back in for him. However, Fabrizio Romano has had his say.
Fabrizio Romano sends Arsenal a warning about Mikel Arteta’s top target
Via afcstuff on X, the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has expressed that Arsenal won’t be the only club in the running for Ousmane Diomande. In fact, they will face competition from three or four clubs as they are monitoring his situation too. Therefore, if the Gunners are to get their man, they must act promptly.
🚨 @FabrizioRomano on Arsenal links to Diomande: “I’m told he’s a player they’ve been tracking for a long time, but it’s not only Arsenal. There are three or four clubs monitoring Diomande for the future, but it was never a negotiation this summer as he wasn’t for sale.” #afc pic.twitter.com/NwxJmJpRs6

Diomande is an excellent young player who is seen as the next big thing. Ageing at just 19 years old, to receive such heavy interest from not only the Gunners but other top clubs, it is quite indicative of Diomande’s colossal defending and hunger to achieve.
Arsenal have many great defensive options in William Saliba, Gabriel, Alex Zinchenko, Ben White and Jurrien Timber. Not only that, but there are some excellent backup options too. Therefore, to add the young Ousmane Diomande to that fine collection would be rather fulfilling for Mikel Arteta, hence the heavy interest and commitment to reenter the transfer race for him.
Do you think Arsenal will sign the 19-year-old Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP?
