Anwar El Ghazi to Manchester United was rumoured late last night. He was touted as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho. But, United are not interested.

Manchester United are looking for a right winger because of the unavailability of Antony who is fighting allegations against him. Also, Jadon Sancho has fallen out with Erik ten Hag due to his ‘scapegoat’ statement. Anwar El Ghazi, who used to play for Aston Villa in the Premier League, was rumoured to be the replacement for Jadon Sancho in January as the English winger is ready to force his way out of the club. However, Laurie Whitwell from The Athletic confirmed that the speculation of Anwar El Ghazi joining Manchester United is not true as the Red Devils have no interest in signing the Dutch winger.

Why Anwar El Ghazi to Manchester United made no sense

Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. So, most players will be linked to the club. Even Arnautovic was also linked to United. However, due to the protests from the fans, the club had to backtrack from that deal. Similarly, Man Utd are going through a crisis and at this stage, they needed squad depth. Jadon Sancho may not play for United again and thus, the right wing position is up for grabs as Antony is unavailable as well. Because of this, Anwar El Ghazi was linked to Manchester United.

However, that doesn’t mean Man Utd would have to go and sign Anwar El Ghazi who is an Aston Villa reject. Man Utd have Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho in their squad who can play in this position. Also, Bruno Fernandes played there. So, it doesn’t make any sense for United to go for El Ghazi. They have the players who could play in that position.

Do you think Facundo Pellistri should get a run at the right wing for Manchester United due to the absence of Antony and Sancho? Let us know in the comments!
