Manchester United are facing huge pressure to drop Antony after Brazil’s national team did the same due to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend. Although he denied these allegations in a statement made on social media, things are far from over for Man Utd’s Brazilian winger.

What happened with Mason Greenwood was an eye-opener for many and it set up a precedent of what course of action should be taken by a football club if such things occur. Greenwood was suspended immediately. However, Man United haven’t done that yet with Antony. The pressure to drop the winger is increasing with each passing day.

United are under huge pressure along with Ten Hag to drop him. Fans were eager to see him getting dropped because of his performances. Now, with Antony getting dropped from the Brazil team, not for footballing reasons, fans and media are also pressing Man United to take the same action as they did with Mason Greenwood. However, the Brazilian winger has not been proven guilty in England and Brazil. And unlike the Greenwood situation, none of the claimed pieces of evidence are made public.

Many activist groups are starting to voice their opinion about the allegations made against Antony and how Manchester United is dealing with them. While speaking to The Guardian, Tracy Blackwell of Refuge, a charity for domestic abuse, said, “Powerful men so often use their status and their wealth to silence women. It is important that the FA, Premier League and clubs make it clear to their fans that they do not condone any forms of violence against women and girls. Domestic abuse is a crime and should be treated as such. Swift action needs to be taken to adopt a zero-tolerance policy to abuse and address this culture of violence against women and girls within football.”

With many such organizations starting to voice their opinions about the matter of Antony, Manchester United find themselves in a heap of pressure. Do you think Man Utd should drop Antony as Brazil did?
