Liverpool were willing to include this SHOCK striker in a rejected swap deal

A shocking revelation has come out which revealed Jurgen Klopp’s true thoughts about this Liverpool striker. While overall, the focus was on signing midfielders in the summer, the Reds were reportedly willing to replace their striker too.
Liverpool considered shipping Darwin Nunez for Joao Felix
That’s right, according to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool were open to letting go of their Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, to bring in Joao Felix. However, what stopped the deal from being pursued was that Felix, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, rejected Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa, as his eyes were only on Barcelona.
As a neutral fan, I must say, this is a surprise to me. Given how well Darwin Nunez has started his Liverpool career, it would’ve been a massive shock to see him shipped so early into this time at Anfield to bring in a winger who hasn’t proven himself yet in the Premier League.
In my eyes, the rejection from Joao Felix was a bullet dodged for Jurgen Klopp. While he might have seen something in the Portugal international that others don’t, Felix wouldn’t have been a great signing for the Reds.
Just recently, Darwin Nunez was the hero for Jurgen Klopp. He came off the bench to help a 10-man Liverpool side beat the impressive Newcastle United, away from home. When you consider all the factors of that cameo, it is the best substitution so far this season.
I would place a bet that Klopp, watching on from the sidelines, counted his lucky stars that this deal involving Darwin didn’t go through. After all, he still has much more to offer this Reds side.
What do you think, Reds – Would you have been happy to see Darwin Nunez leave if it meant Joao Felix coming in?
