Manchester United wanted to part ways with Mason Greenwood simply because they knew how bad the situation was for the club. Also, fans didn’t want Greenwood back at Manchester United. Manchester United were desperate

Manchester United wanted to sell Greenwood as soon as possible as the deadline day came closer. They preferred a permanent move. But soon they realized it would not happen. They contacted many clubs for Greenwood before loaning him to Getafe.

Multiple agents called Getafe to do the deal

According to The Athletic, around 20 agents called a Spanish club claiming that they could do a deal for Mason Greenwood. However, the club was unsure which agents were real. It is astonishing that a club like Manchester United can allow such nonsense.

Mason Greenwood to Lazio was in advanced stages

Mason Greenwood was very close to joining Lazio. However, Adam Crafton from The Athletic reported that the deal was closer than fans knew it. Even the legal documents between Manchester United and Lazio were exchanged.

Many clubs declined to sign Mason Greenwood

Lazio and Getafe were not the only clubs that Manchester United approached to sell Mason Greenwood. Brentford, Milan, and Dortmund also had the chance to sign the young striker from United. But, they declined the offer.

Getafe can terminate the loan in January

Getafe has a clause in Mason Greenwood’s loan contract that will enable them to terminate the loan if Mason and Getafe are unhappy with how things would go. So, he could be back in Manchester sooner than you can think.
