Manchester United had a horrible start to their 2023/24 Premier League campaign, and so as their Brazilian winger, Antony. He is now getting investigated for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Antony was a part of the Brazil squad that is scheduled to play against Bolivia and Peru. However, after the recent events, CBF or the Brazilian Football Confederation decided to take on this matter.

In an official statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation said about the matter; “In order to safeguard the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF, the organization informs that Antony has been removed from the Brazilian national team.”

Former Manchester City and current Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has been called up to the squad to replace Antony. The start of the season for Antony has been horrendous and things are getting worse for the Brazilian winger Manchester United who hit a new low this year.

Manchester United winger Antony denied allegations

After everything that was going on in the media, Antony decided to break his silence by putting up a story on his Instagram account. In that statement, Antony said;

“Out of respect for my fans, friends and family, I feel obligated to speak publicly about the false accusations I have been a victim of. From the beginning I have handled this issue seriously and with respect, providing the due clarifications to the police authority. The police inquest is under the cover of justice and therefore I cannot make its content public. However, I can say with confidence that the accusations are false and the evidence already produced and more to be produced show that I am innocent of the accusations made.”

Fabrizio Romano also tweeted this response of Antony. This statement came from Antony after the Brazilian Football Confederation decided to drop him.
