There are three things which are inevitable in life – Death, taxes & Chelsea spending big in the transfer window.

It doesn’t matter if it’s in the summer window or the January window, you can pretty much guarantee that Chelsea will be the biggest spenders. Because they dominate the transfer window, they should be dominating on the pitch, right?

Wrong. In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Chelsea are in dire straits at the moment, and not even one of the greatest tactical minds in Mauricio Pochettino looks like fixing it. So, to aid the solution, Todd Boehly would like to re-enact the very behaviour which got his club into this mess in the first place, by spending big. Great idea!

Jokes aside, I do think this signing will be one of the better ones…

Chelsea add English striker Ivan Toney to their January transfer window shortlist

According to the Evening Standard, Mauricio Pochettino has added the English striker Ivan Toney to his shortlist for the January transfer window. The interest in Toney is a result of the recognised striker woes at Stamford Bridge, with new signing Nicolas Jackson failing to live up to expectations.

Of course, Toney would be a good signing. A Premier League proven player, who is bound to be more hungry than ever after returning from his ban, you’d essentially be buying goals by signing him.

Not only that, but it adds to the homegrown core which Mauricio Pochettino is famous for instilling. He’s trying to do this at Stamford Bridge, but admittedly, the inflation of the squad makes it hard to find balance.

Do you think that Brentford striker Ivan Toney is the right choice for Chelsea?
