Manchester United versus Arsenal has always been a heated rivalry. Although the significance of this clash lessened over the years, the heat is still on between the two rivals. So, tempers were flying at the Emirates last night. However, Man Utd came up short as they were defeated by Arsenal 3-1. After the game, Manchester United legend Roy Keane was waiting to take the lift that would take him down for the post-match show. That is when a fan allegedly came up to him and things got very ugly. Former Manchester City player, Micah Richards had to intervene to stop the incident, according to witnesses.

What happened between Manchester United legend Roy Keane and the fan?

It is reported by the Daily Mail that the fan first, allegedly, headbutted Roy Keane and after that, hit him on the chest. However, according to the witnesses and the video circulating on social media, Micah Richards stepped in to confront the man and stop any more damage. Micah tried to restrain the fan but he left before the guards arrived.

The footage of Micah holding that fan is all over social media. After this incident, the Manchester United legend went to the post-match show as he was scheduled. These incidents should be avoided because such things are unacceptable.

What will happen after the allegations of Roy Keane getting headbutted by a fan?

Sky Sports released a statement stating; “We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media. In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation.” Also, London’s Met Police assured that they are looking into this matter by releasing a statement; “Police are investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday, 3 September.”
