Erik ten Hag brought Antony to Manchester United from Ajax. They had to pay a large sum of £85m to get his signature. So, understandably there was pressure of living up to his cost in his head.

Antony started his United career with flying colours. He scored in the first game against Arsenal at Old Trafford. However, from then on, he played well here and there. But, consistency is lacking in his game.

The same can be said about Jadon Sancho. He was an Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signing. Man United had to pay £73m for Sancho, so he was a little cheaper than Antony.

However, from the beginning, Jadon Sancho was not a starter at United. The kind of performance that fans expected from him was missing surprisingly. Seasons went on and nothing improved. When Ten Hag came in, many players got better who were incapable of wearing a Man United shirt under Solskjaer. But, fans didn’t know that two wingers at United are divided in reality.

Erik Ten Hag prefers Antony over Sancho at Manchester United

Since joining Manchester United, Antony has been a regular starter although there were many question marks about his inclusion in the team. However, the manager trusts the player and that is why fans will always back him. However, Jadon Sancho, is finding himself on the wrong end of things because of this.

According to Simon Jones from the Daily Mail, “Some close to believe he hasn’t been getting a fair run at cementing a first team place, pointing out that Antony is sometimes given preferential treatment despite struggling for consistency himself.” Thus, it seems the jealousy is coming from the camp of Jadon Sancho which compelled him to make that statement.
