For Arsenal, the transfer window is over. Well, what I mean by this is that they can no longer sign players since the ENGLISH transfer window is over. Of course, they are still susceptible to bids from other countries, dependent on international transfer window dates.

One transfer window which remains open, for over a week, is the Turkish transfer window. Of course, the Turkish league is home to some great clubs. While they might not be the most financially dominant, the Super Lig is home to some top quality players, so the pull factor is high.

Fenerbahce are interested in Arsenal midfielder Jorginho

According to an update from Express, Turkish side Fenerbahce hope to make a move for Jorginho before their transfer window closes on September 15.

From Arsenal’s perspective, it would be a surprise to see them sell a player right before their Champions League campaign begins. Particularly when you factor in that Jorginho has invaluable experience in the competition, and squad rotation is going to be important.

Further, let’s remember that Jorginho hasn’t been an Arsenal player for a full calendar year. He was signed late in the January transfer window from Chelsea, so you could argue he hasn’t even had enough time to prove his worth to Mikel Arteta.

Is Jorginho the most important player at the Emirates Stadium? No, of course he’s not. If he was so important, he would be starting every match. But his presence in the squad is important. Further, there are times where he is called upon. Those times tend to be when the game is calling for more control and composure.

Another factor to consider is competition for his spot. Mikel Arteta has many players ahead of Jorginho in the pecking order. Therefore, a move away to get game time might appeal to Jorginho. However, it does seem like the mood at Arsenal is a good one, so it would be weird to see a player push for a move away at this stage.
