In today’s Arsenal injury news – There has been a big blow for Mikel Arteta as the true extent of Thomas Partey’s injury is revealed.

Arsenal injury news – Thomas Partey ruled out for over a month

The game between Arsenal and Manchester United couldn’t have gone any better for Mikel Arteta. He got his selection spot on and the substitutes he made did well to play their part on the overall tale of the match.

But there was one noticable absentee when the lineups were revealed. In truth, it was an expected absentee, as news was circulating both in the media and on social media about Thomas Partey. It was expected he’d miss the match, as rumours suggested, and those rumours turned out to be true. However, the full extent of Partey’s injury hasn’t been known until now.

According to the Daily Mail (via Live Soccer TV), it is expected that Partey will be out until October, after the October international break. If he does meet this return date and his progress isn’t halted, that’s still six weeks.

When you bear in mind that Arsenal’s first home game back after the current international break is against Spurs – A Spurs team whose midfield is in insane form I must add – it becomes worrying.

Of course, it’s not the end of the world for Mikel Arteta, but it’s still a big blow. With new signing Declan Rice able to provide cover in this position, it works out okay in the long run.

Admittedly, Partey has been played out of position so his intellect in the midfield has been wasted so far this season anyway. Let’s hope that with the time Partey is out injured, Arteta will recall and remember he’s much better as the deep lying midfielder, not as a full back.
