Tottenham: Three questions ahead of Spurs Saturday match at Burnley
By Cole Sutton
Hailed the signing of the summer by many on social media, former Leicester City star James Maddison has made quite the impact at his new club so far through three EPL games. Signing for around $50 million US dollars this offseason many knew the Englishman would be a bright spot in the Spurs lineup, but I don’t know if anyone could’ve predicted the level of class “Madders” has shown in his first couple of appearances for the Lillywhites. After the 2-0 win against Man United on August 19th the new signing was seen on crutches in a protective boot leaving the stadium after picking up a slight ankle injury.
The midfielder told reporters it was “precautionary” but he did go for a foot scan on August 21st which came back with minimal damage. While the scan results were positive for Spurs fans, there were worries about his availability for the clash against Bournemouth. Those worries were put to bed after the England international star scored his first goal for the club in the 17th minute, hitting his signature dart-throwing celebration.
Madders did see some time against Fulham, subbing on in the second half in search of the winning goal. If the newcomer is fully healthy and there is no lingering pain from his injury scare, having his presence in the midfield straight away from the opening whistle could make an incredible difference for Spurs who are looking for yet another league win.
