It’s transfer deadline day, and it was expected to be a quiet one for Arsenal who completed their business relatively early in the transfer window. Of course, there’s always room for surprises but given how much they’ve spent already, I don’t think Mikel Arteta has any surprises up their sleeves.

However, there is a positive update for Arsenal fans. A defender who oftentimes divides opinion, particularly towards the tailend of last season when the title race got to its most important stage. If you haven’t already guessed, I’m talking about Rob Holding.

Rob Holding undergoes his medical to join Crystal Palace from Arsenal

That’s right. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, there is currently a medical test ongoing for Rob Holding at Crystal Palace, in a £4m deal for the English defender to leave Arsenal.

While £4m doesn’t look like a big fee, and it certainly isn’t, it’s somewhat forgiven by the fact that the original investment is doubled. In July 2016, Arsenal signed Rob Holding permanently from Bolton for £2m (as per the BBC).

Besides, I don’t think Arsenal were in a position to demand over the odds for Rob Holding, who is known for not being that great.

I don’t want to be too harsh on Rob Holding, as he did have some good moments. For example, his best performance in an Arsenal shirt came in the FA Cup final where his defensive masterclass granted the club a major honour. Further, he was known for coming on late in the game and tightening the defence – So his time in North London wasn’t all doom and gloom.

What was your favourite Rob Holding memory?
