Manchester United remain active in the transfer window. With just two days remaining, Erik ten Hag is unsettled. Ideally, he would like to bring in two more transfers, but who those transfers are remains to be seen.
Of course, a backup midfielder has been in pursuit for a long time, but they now find themselves needed a new full back given the injury to Luke Shaw.
Manchester United fans were puzzled to see their side linked with a move for the Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella. The Spanish 25-year-old is surplus to requirements under Mauricio Pochettino, so a loan move to Manchester United would’ve benefited all parties. But now, it looks like that’s off the cards.
Manchester United turn to Spurs’ Sergio Reguilon for Chelsea alternative
Reported by the trusted source David Ornstein, Manchester United are now forced to reconsider their left-back option. Given that Marc Cucurella featured for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, he would now be cup tied if he went to United. To play in the cup is a large reason why Erik ten Hag first became interested in him.
Instead, reports Ornstein, Manchester United could now go in for Sergio Reguilon on loan. Like Cucurella, Reguilon has been affected by the new transfers and tactical changes implemented by the new manager in North London.
This pursuit for a left-back is balanced by United’s interest in Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan midfielder who plays for Fiorentina has been pushed to the side by the Italian club, since he prefers a move to United. Erik ten Hag has left it late, hence this current mess which must be untangled.
