Liverpool: Al-Ittihad “sound out” key defender under Jurgen Klopp
By Kian Long
Liverpool are active in the transfer window as it nears deadline day. Of course, Jurgen Klopp would like to focus on bringing in another new signing, but at the same time, he must avoid losing his best players.
Perhaps the main talking point surrounding Liverpool at the moment is the interest from Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah. Jurgen Klopp insists Salah isn’t for sale, but the Saudi Pro League club insist in trying to test Liverpool’s resolve.
Al-Ittihad sound out Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate
Well, they’re not done there. According to a report from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Al-Ittihad have also “sounded out” Ibrahima Konate, as they seek to reunite him with his countryman Karim Benzema. However, it must be noted that Konate is happy at Liverpool where he would like to achieve his goals.
Liverpool aren’t likely to entertain Al-Ittihad’s interest in Ibrahima Konate. The French defender is currently injured, but this won’t blind Klopp to how important he is when fit. Particularly when you factor in Virgil van Dijk’s suspension, Klopp would love to have Konate available to him.
The Reds have started the season off well. They sit fourth in the Premier League table as they approach gameweek 4 of the 2023/24 Premier League season. While they have faced some adversity early on in the season, they have overcome it well.
Klopp wouldn’t like any of the transfer stories to sway his team on the wrong track. It would be a disaster for him to sell his best players and have no time to replace them. Therefore, I’d take this RMC report with a pinch of salt.
Where do you think The Reds will finish this season?
