Chelsea are not having the best of times. Unfortunately for the club, they appear to be on a downwards trajectory and the continued spending is only exacerbating their decline. Even under the new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is one of the best in the world, the Blues cannot get a firm grip and go on a consistent win streak.

Mauricio Pochettino took over from Frank Lampard and he is a much better choice at the helm. It will take him time to adjust to his new settings, but Lampard never did adjust despite being given two chances.

Chelsea consider bringing back Joao Felix

Speaking of the former manager and club legend Frank Lampard, Pochettino is reportedly looking to sign a player who played under Lampard and his predecessor Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge. That’s right, according to 90min, the Blues are considering rivalling Barcelona for the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

Felix spent the second half of the season on loan at Chelsea last season. While his loan spell wasn’t disastrous, it wasn’t successful either given the money which the Stamford Bridge board spent on the loan. He returned four goals before returning to Atletico Madrid at the end of last season.

Given his fallout with Diego Simeone, Felix is bound to leave the football capital before the summer transfer window closes. However, his next destination remains unknown.

Of course, he will be in familiar settings at either Barcelona or Chelsea. Having played in both La Liga and the Premier League, the only difference for Felix might be the European football conundrum. Of course, Barcelona will play in European football this season but Chelsea won’t.

Still, playing under a new manager in London might appeal to Felix. Given the signing of an out-and-out striker, he’s also free to play as a second striker or false nine, which suits him more.
