Chelsea, despite having a squad the size of a small country, are still active in the transfer market. It’s thought that Mauricio Pochettino would like to bring in one more signing before the transfer window closes, and Todd Boehly is obviously in favour of that decision.

There is the obvious question of why Chelsea even needs to sign another player, but nobody except Todd Boehly can answer that question really. The second question remains, though, of who they will sign.

Chelsea shortlist Manchester City starlet Cole Palmer

According to a report from the most trusted source Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have added the youngster from Manchester City, Cole Palmer, to their shortlist. According to Romano, he’s seen as the best option and talks will commence soon, but it remains to be seen what Man City and Pep Guardiola think of the deal.

From Palmer’s perspective, the answer should be easy – No. Chelsea have a track record of ruining young players and despite Pochettino’s claim that this will change, there are no telling factors that this reputation is being challenged. In fact, it looks like young players will have a tougher time in years to come, given the size of Chelsea’s squad.

Cole Palmer is 21 years old and two times Premier League winner, Champions League winner and European Under-21 champion. He has a bright future ahead of him, so signing at Stamford Bridge seems like a dumb decision. If the move comes down to him or his agents, I would be surprised to see them in favour of the downgrade.

Who do you think the Blues will sign as their final player in the transfer window?
