Chelsea are known for being the most outlandish spenders in the transfer market. Mauricio Pochettino is being treated to a plethora of talent in his first season in charge of the club. And it’s worked, too – Todd Boehly’s spending has moved from Chelsea from 12th to a whopping 10th.

Jokes aside, Chelsea have shown signs of improvement at the start of this season. Although two results didn’t go as planned, they have shown plenty of promise and look much better from an attacking standpoint, which was the main objective in the transfer window.

However, the Blues are not done there. With a few days remaining in the transfer window, the Stamford Bridge side would like to make at least one more signing.

Chelsea eye Emile Smith Rowe as a surprise Arsenal transfer

Recent news has linked them to the signing of the out-of-favour Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun. However, their plans may have changed. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are considering a late move to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal. Alongside the Hale End graduate, Ferran Torres and Raphinha are being considered by the Blues.

Whether Chelsea choose to sign Smith Rowe or either one of the Barcelona pair, they would be bringing in guaranteed quality so as a potential league rival come the end of the season, Mikel Arteta should be scared.

From the players perspective, there doesn’t seem to be a future for him at Arsenal. Despite being the best player a few seasons ago, injuries have hindered his progress and unfortunately, he doesn’t look like staking his claim on the first team anytime soon.

Unfortunately, though, signing for Chelsea would be worse for his progress. They have a track record of ruining young players and given their spending in recent seasons, they haven’t done anything to better that reputation.

Where do you think Emile Smith Rowe will play this season?
