Liverpool show an interest in England’s cult hero from Manchester City

Liverpool are still very much active in the transfer window, as their main hope is to sign another midfielder to suit them for the rest of the season. Jurgen Klopp has signed three midfielders already this summer, but Alexis Mac Allister is out of contention due to serving his suspension from his red card.
Liverpool show an interest in Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips
From one international hero to another, except this time, Klopp is eyeing a midfielder much closer to home. According to a report from 90min, Liverpool have shown an interest in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City, as the English midfielder has consistently been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.
I’ve mentioned Liverpool’s midfielder crisis, but Manchester City aren’t exactly stacked in this position either. Given their loss of midfielders and Kevin De Bruyne being injured, there could easily become a need to rely upon Kalvin Phillips. But that time hasn’t come yet.
Phillips was a cult hero for the England international team as he was a key member of the Euro 2020 squad which reached the final. Playing for Leeds at the time, Phillips won the heart of the national, which resulted in his big move to Manchester City.
Since then, his career has hit a stalemate somewhat. It’s through no fault of his own or Pep Guardiola’s, there is just a plethora of midfield talent at Manchester City which has made it difficult for Phillips to stake his claim on the starting eleven.
Moving to Liverpool could be the kick up the backside he needs to get back on the right track. Let’s not forget, he’s 27 years old so he is at the peak of his fitness as a footballer. Although, Liverpool might need to hurry, as the report states they will face competition from Bayern Munich.
Where do you think Kalvin Phillips will play this season?
