Real Madrid have a genuine interest in Arsenal defender Gabriel

Real Madrid have turned their attention to Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes. Carlo Ancelotti is thought to have a genuine interest in the 25-year-old, according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, however, the defender is happy at Arsenal.

It’s thought that Real Madrid would be in competition with Saudi Arabian clubs if they chose to sign him. However, as reiterated, the Brazil international is more than happy at Arsenal and is committed to achieving great things under Mikel Arteta.

Gabriel was left out of the starting eleven in the opening gameweek of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign. It was not through injury, but for tactical reasons. While Mikel Arteta thinks very highly of Gabriel and for good reason, he is open to switching around the starting eleven based on the opponent and he saw Jurrien Timber as a better fit to face Nottingham Forest.

However, Jurrien Timber picked up an injury in the match and was forced off. Following the match and assessment of the defender’s injury, it was revealed that Timber would miss a large chunk of the season. Therefore, Gabriel is expected to return to the starting eleven in tonight’s London derby against Crystal Palace. You can read our full predicted lineup below.

Gabriel is just 25 years old, so he is likely to prefer a move to Real Madrid over Saudi Arabia. However, he has no reason to leave the Gunners, which is likely swaying his decision to remain in North London.

Last season, Gabriel formed an unbreakable partnership with French teammate William Saliba. The two centre backs had one of the best partnerships in the Premier League so fans are hoping both remain fit for all of this season, particularly in the Champions League.
