Manchester United remain active in the transfer window. Having already signed some great names and strengthening their squad, Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in some more quality.

In truth, the Dutch manager who is known for being ruthless when it comes to his squad, is probably unsatisfied with how his team has started this season. A narrow win to relegation-electees and being outplayed by Spurs does not look good on paper, so understandably, more changes need to be made.

To achieve those micro-improvements, Ten Hag would like to bring in some experienced and proven quality. With that being said, he has resorted to a long-term transfer target of Manchester United, Marco Verratti.

Manchester United weigh up move for Marco Verratti

According to L’Equipe (via the Mirror), Erik ten Hag is weighing up a move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder who is one of the best in the world, Marco Verratti. However, it’s known that Saudi side Al-Ahli and Bayern Munich are competing for him.

Bayern Munich are not competition in the transfer window. As proven multiple times, they are easy to beat financially by English clubs. Al Ahli, on the other hand, will not give up that easily. Further, they aren’t constrained by FFP regulations, so they can throw money at Paris Saint-Germain, who might prefer to not strengthen another European side.

Targeting Verratti makes plenty of sense for Manchester United, though. Too often, they are overpowered in the midfield and this needs to change. While the signing of Mount was made to change this, I often forget he’s on the pitch when he plays.

Further, signing Verratti would add more experienced quality into this Manchester United side. The side which consists of Raphael Varane and Casemiro would be greatly benefited by another superstar within its ranks.
