Manchester United remain active in the transfer window. After already signing a goalkeeper in Andre Onana, who has impressed since putting on the gloves at Old Trafford, they may require some more reinforcements between the sticks. Not to replace Andre Onana but to replace his backup, Dean Henderson, who looks like he could move away this summer.

Manchester United aware of Odisseas Vlachodimos conditions

We revealed yesterday that Manchester United were eyeing the signing of Odisseas Vlachodimos from Benfica. Well, since then, Fabrizio Romano has posted another update on the club’s pursuit, claiming that Erik ten Hag and company know the conditions of the deal, and are still willing to pursue the deal. That’s if Dean Henderson is sold, anyway.

Indeed, Odisseas Vlachodimos would be a great backup option for Erik ten Hag. He has plenty of experience in European football and would be great for squad rotation. Let’s not forget that Manchester United aim to compete in a title challenge this season while also trying to progress as far as possible in the Champions League. Therefore, squad rotation is important to them.

Vlachodimos didn’t get off to the best start to life this season, making one appearance and conceding three goals. Although, this is through no fault of his own, as it was an awful team display so to point fingers at the goalkeeper would be unjust.

Described as a “great pickup”, the United fans would be happy to see Vlachodimos as a backup goalkeeper. He has plenty of experience and could step in when needed. Granted, he does have the odd mistake in him, but this comes as part of the package being a modernised goalkeeper, as too does Onana.
