“Joke” Manchester United fans are enraged by latest Erik ten Hag choice
By Kian Long
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is a very popular figure. Ever since he took charge of the club, he has instilled in the club a very positive change in mentality. Further, he has more often than not made the right transfer decisions. Well, that was until today.
Unfortunately for the Dutch manager, he appears to have made a big mistake. Well, that’s if the consensus of the fanbase on Twitter (or, dare I say it, X) is anything to go by. Lets face it, it very rarely is anything to go by.
It was revealed yesterday by the BBC that Manchester United were in talks to sign Jonny Evans on a one-year deal. This news came after Evans played with the Red Devils throughout pre-season, which was initially thought to be as a compliant fitness booster.
Impressing in training and his appearances, Erik ten Hag would now like to sign the defender, who spent some successful years at Manchester United before moving elsewhere. Given the rumoured departure of Harry Maguire, I guess this pursuit does make sense.
On the other hand, I do understand the argument that wages are better spent elsewhere. The 35-year-old is not the same player he once was and, to me, this seems like nothing short of a panic buy.
Manchester United fans react to Jonny Evans deal
Still, I guess what could go wrong with a free signing of vast Premier League experience? Let’s see what the fans had to say…
Famous United Stand presenter Mark Goldbridge kicked off the opinions. He certainly wasn’t happy, claiming this is something you’d never see title contenders do.
This Twitter user went as far as to call the club a “joke”
Evans should not be signed at the expense of more beneficial signings.
Is Ten Hag being exposed?
