“Not easy” Fabrizio Romano shares worrying update for Arsenal defender
By Kian Long
Arsenal have had a positive transfer window up to this point. They have signed four excellent players in Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and David Raya. Furthermore, they have tied down some of their best players and valuable assets down to long-term contracts, avoiding any upset in this transfer window or upcoming ones.
But there is still work for Mikel Arteta to do. There are some players on the fringe of first-term football who may require loan moves and those with no chance of first-term football who require permanent transfers.
One of the players in the loan-move-camp is Nuno Tavares. The 23-year-old Portuguese left-back is due another loan move away from Arsenal, following his relatively successful loan spell last season. Fans are aware that the defender has been in talks to join his former Arsenal teammate Matt Turner at Nottingham Forest, however, there has been a worrying update in that regard.
Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares to Nottingham Forest is “not easy”
According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal for Nuno Tavares is looking complicated and “not easy”. Therefore, while there is no confirmation that the deal is off, Romano has indicated that Tavares may be looking at his other options.
Whatever the decision comes to be, one thing remains clear: Nuno Tavares is not likely to be an Arsenal player next season. More than likely he will be sent out on loan, but for the sake of his development, he must find a suitor quick.
The Gunners play in the Champions League this season, meaning squad rotation will be important. However, with the signing of Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu returning to fitness, the depth which Tavares brings is surplus to requirements.
