It’s all gone quiet for Manchester United regarding their midfield target Sofyan Amrabat. Granted, this was always going to be a dragged-our transfer, as Erik ten Hag was never in dire need to sign the Moroccan midfielder. However, given the lack of updates, fans are becoming quite concerned.
And understandably so, while the signing of Amrabat is not essential, it would certainly bolster the manager’s options in midfield, which is needed given their departures this summer. Mason Mount has been signed, but he didn’t look great against Wolves in the Red Devils’ opening fixture. Hopefully, bringing in a different dynamic to the midfield could unlock his true greatness.
Amrabat is a big game player, having had experience in Morocco’s terrific World Cup campaign last year and Fiorentina’s Europa Conference League campaign, where they reached the final of the competition.
Manchester United haven’t made a bid for Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United play in the Champions League and they seek a more serious title challenge. Although it’s just one fixture, they need to improve on their performance in the opening fixture for this challenge to be taken seriously. They narrowly edged a draw against a lacklustre Wolves side who you should expect the potential champions to beat comfortably.
Therefore, the time to announce a new signing is now. If not, very soon. With the transfer window soon to be coming to a close, if United want Amrabat, then they need to submit a bid after their game against Spurs today.
According to the Mirror, Fiorentina are yet to receive an official offer for Sofyan Amrabat from Manchester United, despite their interest in the player. While it’s not the time to panic given the time left in the transfer window and other reinforcements being made, it does beg the question of whether or not Erik ten Hag is genuinely interested in signing Amrabat.
