Liverpool haven’t had the best luck in the transfer window this summer. Granted, they have strengthened overall by signing some bargains. However, when push came to shove, they were dominated in the market by their competitors. Just recently, they lost two big midfield targets in Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.

The midfield was the main area of concern for Jurgen Klopp, as this is a depleted position due to ageing and significant departures. With three signings already made in this position, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing two more, to act as alternatives for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool remain interested in signing the 23-year-old midfield talent Cheick Doucoure from Crystal Palace. Doucoure has been a long-term target for Jurgen Klopp and he would like to seal the deal as soon as possible.

Further, Bild claim that Liverpool are keen to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move away from Bayern for the whole of summer given his unsettled status there. The report claims that up to £20m is being allocated for Klopp to try to sign Gravenberch.

Certainly, these would be two great midfield options for Liverpool. Doucoure has Premier League experience but both players are young and would suit the system well. It’s going to be a new-look midfield for Jurgen Klopp this season so understandably, the system is subject to be tampered with but overall, all the midfield signings are versatile so all bases should be covered.

With the money that the Reds have left to spend, it would be great to squeeze two more signings out. There are no excuses from the board, since they were willing to go above and beyond for Caicedo’s fee.
